Solar Power

Solar energy is one of the most renewable and cleanest forms of energy known to man. Solar power is power harvested directly from the sun’s rays. Mankind harvests solar power in several different ways. The most popular, and probably the most technologically advanced way to harvest this energy is based on solar panels. Solar panels are mechanical component devices that utilize the rays from the sun and convert them into electricity. Another way that the sun’s energy is captured is through the use of solar water heaters and/or solar air heaters. These can cut down on energy costs by using the sun to heat water or air to a certain temperature, as opposed to using electricity or gas. Heating water with electricity to 70 degrees when the water itself is 45 degrees is one thing, but using the sun, you can instead heat water to 70 degrees from around 60 degrees (hypothetically), and that can save you a lot of money on water heating costs.

Solar panels or solar arrays are used in a number of different ways. They are built onto generators for portable power, they can be built onto the roofs of houses to power them or they can simply generate energy to be used on the main grid. The only downside to solar power is that solar panels need the sun to be effective. So, at night, solar panels are useless and their usefulness is cut very short on cloudy days. Unless you can count on the sun 24/7, solar energy alone cannot be a sole power supply (unless you have enough battery power to get you through the night).

But that is also one of the benefits of solar power. As long as we have the sun, solar power will continue to give us almost free electricity. And since the Earth also needs the sun to survive, it is pretty safe to say that as long as humankind is present, we will have power from the sun.

Solar power is a good investment because it will pay for itself. The sun’s energy is free once you have the means to harvest it. And once you do, you would be amazed at how effective solar panels can be at capturing the sun’s rays. Solar energy is definitely the wave of the energy future, so why not take advantage of it?
